Hayden Panettiere’s Death Caused by Drug Toxicity
The cause of Hayden Panettiere’s death has been clarified by South Carolina authorities. The former Heroes and Nashville star died from the toxic effects of multiple drugs, as determined by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Her death has been classified as accidental, putting an end to weeks of public speculation.
Findings from the Coroner’s Report
According to the coroner’s office, Panettiere died due to the effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. The manner of death was ruled an accident, with no evidence of trauma or foul play discovered during the autopsy. The full report was obtained by Newsweek.
Emergency Response Details
A 911 call about a cardiac arrest was made on August 16 at around 1:51 p.m. First responders found Panettiere at a residence on Easley Bridge Road in Greenville in cardiac arrest. Despite efforts with advanced life support, resuscitation was not successful, and she was declared dead at 2:32 p.m. Reports indicated she was staying temporarily at the location where she was found.
Drugs Involved in the Toxicology Findings
The coroner’s investigation included cooperation with the Greenville City Police Department. The toxicology report identified fentanyl as a significant contributing factor. Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, has been a key player in the overdose crisis in the U.S., often found in illicit drugs. The report also mentioned 4-ANPP, a compound associated with fentanyl production.
Other substances listed included alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. Alprazolam, known under the brand name Xanax, is prescribed for anxiety. Methocarbamol is a muscle relaxant, and quetiapine treats conditions like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Authorities did not specify dosages or the method of intake for these substances.
