The latest Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 brought exciting revelations for movie enthusiasts. Marvel’s new “X-Men” film cast made their debut under the spotlight on Friday night at the Honda Center. Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, used the event to introduce Sadie Sink, known for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” as Jean Grey in the upcoming “X-Men” film. Joining her are Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will portray Mr. Sinister in a recorded video appearance. The movie is slated for release on May 5, 2028.
Disney Entertainment Showcase
The Disney Entertainment Showcase forms part of the three-day D23 fan event. Notable divisions like Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Disney Animation presented a range of upcoming film and television projects. New CEO Josh D’Amaro was greeted enthusiastically by over 12,000 fans, with presentations by famous stars including Anne Hathaway, the Jonas Brothers, and Ryan Gosling.
Marvel Reveals
Marvel Studios turned attention to “VisionQuest,” a series featuring Paul Bettany and James Spader. Following “WandaVision,” this show explores Vision’s identity and humanity. Marvel also shared a new “Avengers: Doomsday” clip but didn’t announce other series, leaving some uncertainty about future TV shows. “VisionQuest” will premiere on October 14.
Star Wars Updates
Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni shared insights on “Ahsoka” Season 2 and “Star Wars: Starfighter.” Hayden Christensen reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, advising Ahsoka in the new season. Ryan Gosling’s character Kade Auberon becomes central in “Star Wars: Starfighter,” set after the sequel trilogy.
Reviving Nostalgia
Disney capitalized on nostalgia with sequels for beloved franchises. Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino reprised roles to tease “Romy and Michele 2.” Anne Hathaway reassured fans about “Princess Diaries 3,” while the Jonas Brothers promoted “Camp Rock 3.” Kathryn Hahn’s appearance teased the live-action “Tangled” set for 2028.
