Houston Astros Secure No-Hit Victory
The Houston Astros achieved an impressive no-hit shutout against the Texas Rangers on Monday, marking their fourth consecutive win. Starting pitcher Tatsuya Imai pitched six innings, followed by relievers Steven Okert and Alimber Santa, who maintained the Texas Rangers’ hitless streak.
Historical Achievement in MLB
The 9-0 triumph was the MLB’s first no-hitter since September 2024, when Shota Imanaga and two Chicago Cubs relievers accomplished a 12-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The last complete-game no-hitter occurred in August 2024, with Blake Snell holding the Cincinnati Reds hitless.
Houston’s record now includes 17 regular-season no-hitters, four of which involved combined efforts. Notably, the Astros orchestrated a no-hitter during the 2022 World Series against Philadelphia with four pitchers.
Outstanding Performances
Starting pitcher Imai managed 16 outs in his six innings, despite walking three out of his first four batters. He found his rhythm thanks to a double play early in the game. Okert took over in the seventh inning, while Santa made an impressive debut in the eighth, retiring all six batters he faced. Santa’s 24th pitch resulted in a called third strike against Brandon Nimmo, confirmed via an ABS challenge.
Texas Rangers’ No-Hit History
The Rangers faced their sixth no-hitter since Corey Kluber achieved the feat for the New York Yankees in May 2021.
Tatsuya Imai’s MLB Journey
Imai, in his first MLB season, joined the Astros in January after signing a $54 million, three-year contract. With a background as a three-time All-Star in Japan, he previously went 10-5 with a 1.92 ERA for the Seibu Lions.
