On Sunday night, the Indiana Fever triumphed over the Chicago Sky with a decisive 113-90 victory. Caitlin Clark was a standout performer, scoring 37 points and achieving a franchise record for Indiana with eight 3-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell complemented Clark’s efforts with 30 points.
Indiana managed to close a challenging 3-2 trip with their third win in four nights, shaking off two previous losses. Caitlin Clark also contributed 10 assists to her impressive performance. The Fever were missing center Aliyah Boston, who was sidelined due to a right leg injury. Despite her absence, Indiana showcased strong teamwork and strategy.
The Fever utilized a powerful 13-2 run in the third quarter, establishing a 71-60 lead. This surge was initiated with a 3-pointer from Clark and included Mitchell’s eight consecutive points. Clark completed the run with a jumper, further widening the gap.
Lexie Hull added 14 points, assisting in the Fever’s offensive efforts, while Makayla Timpson scored 12 points. On the opposing side, Natasha Cloud led Chicago with 16 points and seven assists. Azura Stevens contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Chicago Sky’s playoff hopes diminished with this loss combined with a win from Washington. This matchup was the first since an incident involving Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham and Chicago’s DiJonai Carrington on August 8. Cunningham played over 11 minutes, scoring three points, while Carrington added seven points for Chicago.
Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom attended the game but faced ejection after a confrontation with Natasha Cloud. Freedom has expressed eligibility for the WNBA draft alongside Royce White, another former NBA player, stating their identification as women.
Looking ahead, the Fever will host the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. Meanwhile, the Chicago Sky plan to visit Connecticut on Tuesday.
