Garcia, aged 52, has been in prison since 1997. He serves a life sentence for murder and assault in San Luis Obispo County. Morales, 40, was convicted in 2019 for murder in Woodcrest. During his trial, evidence portrayed him as aggressive, using a knife during arguments.

Surveillance footage revealed Morales and Garcia handed weapons to Estevan Saucedo, who discarded them in a trash can. Jose D. Rodriguez and Freddie G. Sanchez also participated, though their specific roles remain unclear.
