Intense Showdowns at SummerSlam: Liv Morgan vs. Iyo Sky

Starting a significant WWE premium live event like SummerSlam is a challenging mission. The opening match participants need to establish the momentum for the subsequent hours. At U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky immediately set the pace.

Morgan entered the arena as the women’s world champion after not defending her title for a while. She had previously lost to Sky in the Queen of the Ring finals. Despite the recent inactivity, Morgan was unfazed initially. When Sky attempted to take the battle outside, Morgan swiftly turned the tables on the “Genius of the Sky”. She hurled Sky into the barricade, targeting her ribs before executing the Three Amigos move.

Sky is known for her ability to quickly shift the match’s momentum. A sharp kick to the head followed by a missile dropkick allowed her to gain control. The Bullet Train Attack positioned Morgan where Sky wanted her. As Morgan hung on the middle rope, Sky executed a sunset-flip powerbomb outside the ring.

The chaos intensified when Morgan’s Judgment Day allies intervened. Roxanne Perez distracted the referee, while Raquel Rodriguez toppled Sky from the top rope. Despite the assistance, Morgan failed to secure the pinfall.

Sky retaliated by taking down Perez and Rodriguez with a moonsault to the ground. Morgan quickly regained her focus. On the top rope, Morgan was caught, and Sky delivered a stunning Spanish Fly.

Sky unleashed an array of powerful moves – a double underhook faceplant and a backbreaker. She even performed Morgan’s signature Oblivion finisher. Yet, Morgan remained resilient. Sky’s fierce attacks, including a German suplex on the apron followed by another Bullet Train Attack, were countered by Morgan.

When Sky attempted the Over the Moonsault, Morgan managed to defend by raising her knees. Morgan then executed an impressive combination, hitting Oblivion, followed by a codebreaker, and another Oblivion, ultimately defeating Sky.

Morgan demonstrated her tenacity by overcoming one of her strongest opponents in the Raw roster. She retained the Women’s World Championship, proving her dominance once again.
