The Guardian Cap, which serves as a sponsor for both the NFL and NCAA, is vital for protection during the game. Pitre’s decision came naturally; he continued to wear the cap even after it became mandatory in padded practices for all except quarterbacks. As a safety, Pitre often finds himself in high-contact situations and felt the cap’s protective difference immediately. “They want to protect us,” he stated, explaining the motivation to ensure all players can participate healthily. For Pitre, wearing the cap extends beyond practice. It provides better absorption of hits and softens impacts, further safeguarding players.
