Jennifer Aniston showcased her chemistry with boyfriend Jim Curtis during an interview about his new book, “The Book of Possibility.” The event took place Wednesday evening, where the “Friends” star professionally questioned Curtis about his life and motivations for writing the self-help guide.
Aniston revealed she was overcoming her “very deep” fear of public speaking through this interview, something Curtis found surprising given her performance.
“You’d never know it,” Curtis told her.
The interview began with Aniston reminiscing about attending gym class at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, where they were seated. She shared her childhood experiences of playing dodgeball, which she didn’t particularly enjoy due to not being “sporty.”
“So, it was me just knowing that I was going to go into—it was dodgeball, the huge red balls—and I’d just walk into the room, and there’s no, like, yard. It’s a building, so you just have to run for dear life, cover for dear life. Stand as far back into a corner as you possibly can. So, it’s quite a full-circle moment to be back here with you, speaking of dodging balls,” she said.
This led to an enjoyable moment for the audience, with Aniston jokingly asking Curtis if she embarrassed him, to which he reassured her, “No, not yet. We’re still on track here.”
Aniston prefaced her first question by indicating her familiarity with Curtis, then asked him to share his journey to becoming the influential person he is today. Curtis recounted his early career on Wall Street, where colleagues teasingly called out “Run, Forrest, Run,” referencing “Forrest Gump.” This familiarity, he noted, made him feel truly accepted for the first time.
“It was the first time that I ever felt really accepted because if they were making fun of me, I was truly accepted.”
Later, Curtis spoke about a pivotal moment in a hospital when he was in severe pain. This instance of struggle led him to conclude that it was time for change. Aniston became emotionally moved and teared up during his story.
“What a beautiful story,” she said, clearing her throat. “Thank you so much for sharing that. And, also, you reached this point where you’re met with two roads, and you definitely went with the road less traveled in your case.”
Curtis commended Aniston for her thoughtful questioning, although she playfully denied preparing them beforehand.
“I didn’t ask you one question that was prepared,” Aniston quipped.
After the interview, Curtis surprised Aniston by asking her a few questions from the audience, to which she responded with insights about her choices and handling stress.
“Deep breaths and meditation,” she said.
The couple concluded with a hug and a brief kiss, reinforcing their strong bond as Curtis encouraged the audience to cheer for Aniston, hoping she’d participate in future events.
Aniston and Curtis, who have been romantically linked for over a year, generally keep their relationship private. However, they’ve occasionally offered glimpses into their personal lives in public.
Aniston recently shared a photo on Instagram highlighting moments from summer, which included a playful picture with Curtis in the background.
