Jennifer Grey, known for her role in “Dirty Dancing,” recently celebrated her friend Tracy Pollan’s 66th birthday with a nostalgic post on Instagram. Grey shared a blurry photo of herself and Pollan posing topless at the beach. Alongside the image, she included a heartfelt message, “Happy birthday @tracy.pollan. Friendship like this is if you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting… time after time!” The picture showed both women in bikini bottoms, adding star emojis to cover their chests. Their toned abs drew attention from fans.
Pollan responded with enthusiasm, commenting, “Hahahaha I love you!!” Fans also showed appreciation, with one asking about their 1980s fitness routine and others celebrating their enduring friendship.”
Grey and Pollan have been friends since their school days in the 1970s at the Dalton School in Manhattan. Pollan is married to Michael J. Fox, the “Back to the Future” star. Their friendship remains strong, as shown by their recent girls’ trip photos shared by Grey, captioned, “Long overdue girls trip @tracy.pollan giggled like we were back in high school.” Grey appreciates the value of close friendships, stating, “I’ve always been a girl’s girl. I call my girlfriends my framily. They’re the people I trust most. I’ve had the same friends forever.”
Grey’s acting career began in 1984, and she gained fame two years later with her role in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Her career peaked with the lead role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in “Dirty Dancing” in 1987. In this iconic role, she portrayed a young woman on vacation with her family who falls for her dance instructor, played by Patrick Swayze.
Reflecting on the movie’s success, Grey noted, “Nobody sets out to say or do things that become iconic. When we made the movie, it was a less complicated time. We came together in theaters and shared that experience.” The film captured a sense of optimism, resonating with audiences seeking change and inspiration.
