Josh Brolin, starring in the upcoming film ‘Whalefall,’ has opened up about his daily commitment to sobriety. Each morning, Brolin joins a recovery meeting on Zoom at 6 a.m. He views this as an essential part of his life after years of dealing with alcohol issues.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Brolin expressed how drinking had become tedious for him. He shared a pivotal moment when he found himself waking up on the sidewalk outside his home. This incident compelled him to reevaluate his life and prompted a change.
Brolin now finds more joy in sobriety than he ever did in drinking. He said, “I love being sober. I’m having way more fun now than I ever did drinking, and I never end up in jail, which is a real bonus.” This reflects his dedication to maintaining a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle without alcohol.
Brolin, who once worked as a stock trader when his acting career was struggling, also addressed another addiction challenge: nicotine. On the ‘WTF with Marc Maron’ podcast, he described the difficulty of quitting chewing tobacco. He used nicotine pouches extensively, often without realizing it.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nicotine pouches contain nicotine and are absorbed through the mouth, making them highly addictive. Brolin highlighted his journey through addiction in his memoir, ‘From Under the Truck.’
Brolin is known for his roles in films such as ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘No Country for Old Men.’ He appears alongside Austin Abrams and Elisabeth Shue in ‘Whalefall.’ His story of overcoming addiction and embracing sobriety continues to inspire many.
