Justin Rose faced a challenging final round at the Tour Championship. His performance seemed unimpressive until a remarkable event on the par 3 ninth hole.
As he stood at the ninth tee with a score of 2-over par, Rose was not a contender in the PGA Tour’s final event of the season. However, with one swing of his six-iron, the English golfer changed his fortunes. The hole was playing 208 yards, requiring a significant carry over water, a difficult task to spark a turnaround. Yet, Rose was undeterred.
He struck the iron perfectly, watching as his ball vanished into the hole’s bottom moments later. It was a rare slam-dunk hole-in-one, staying airborne until it found the cup. Such aces are unique, and Rose celebrated appropriately by raising his arms before mimicking his ball’s descent into the hole.
Despite following the ninth hole ace with a bogey on the par 4 tenth, Rose’s performance on Sunday will remain memorable. Meanwhile, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler nearly matched Rose’s feat earlier, hitting within three inches on the par 3 second hole.
Rose has a notable record, having won the FedEx Cup in 2018 and securing his 13th PGA Tour victory at the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year, winning by seven shots.
The 46-year-old now aims to enhance his career in the 2027 season, hoping to qualify for the European Ryder Cup team in Ireland, marking his eighth appearance in the biennial event.
