Kate Gosselin, former reality TV star, recently addressed allegations of abuse made by her son, Collin. She shared her thoughts during a TikTok post celebrating her boyfriend, Steve Neild’s birthday, where fans expressed their support.
One TikTok user commented: Happy Birthday, Steve! Strength is about loving deeply enough to do what is right, even when it costs you. Look at the life you have now, after sacrifices no one should make alone.
They continued: When people attack you, it might sting, but it can’t change who you are. It confirms you stood your ground and stayed true. God is guiding you two.
Kate responded by thanking the fan for their encouragement. She stated, I needed this encouragement, and you are right. I know who I am, and my kids know who I truly am. That’s all that matters.
The exchange followed Collin’s claims on The View that his sister, Hannah, felt pressured to distance herself from him due to an upcoming Netflix documentary involving Collin and their father.
Hannah issued her own statement, explaining she keeps a relationship with her mother and siblings but hasn’t lived with her father or spoken to Collin in over a year. She mentioned not sharing more on her experiences with Collin’s behavior.
On The View, Collin described the complex family dynamics: All families are complicated. Hannah is caught in the middle, and no one deserves that. I know how it feels not to have a sibling relationship.
He suggested their mother may influence Hannah’s relationships based on financial ties.
Collin recently detailed his alleged abuse in his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight, claiming his mother institutionalized him without the family’s knowledge and used extreme measures like zip ties and isolation as discipline.
He first spoke out in a 2022 Entertainment Tonight interview, revealing his time at Fairmount Behavioral Health System after being diagnosed with a behavior disorder. He now lives with his father, Jon, following a court custody grant in December 2018.
Collin expressed hope for an apology from his mother: I’d like an apology and for her to take accountability. It would be honest and powerful to admit what she did.
Kate Gosselin has denied these allegations. Lori A. Bashian reports on entertainment news for Fox News Digital.
