A Memphis woman, Kendra Scott, faces a murder charge for allegedly shooting and killing a man discovered under her daughter’s bed. According to an affidavit, Scott informed police she saw a man beneath her child’s bed and acted decisively.
The individual, identified as Rodderius Morton, was found by officers on Scott’s front yard with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The incident occurred on Thursday. Kendra Scott, 36, is now charged with first-degree murder. Authorities state she shot Morton in the back of the head.
A juvenile witness present at the scene reported hearing Scott shouting, “Who’s at my house?” and knocking on the door. She eventually entered and discovered Morton under her child’s bed.
Police noted that an altercation ensued between Morton and Scott as he exited the home. He was unarmed, with Scott reportedly yelling, “Get out of my house!” Memphis Police responded to the shooting at the 3000 block of Travis Road, finding Morton deceased with a gunshot wound in the front yard.
A witness revealed Morton entered the home via the back door after being invited. The same witness reported hearing a single gunshot when Scott and Morton were on the front porch. Past statements from Scott indicated she had previously stated that if she encountered a boy in her home, she would take drastic action.
Besides the murder charge, Scott faces an additional charge for using a firearm during a dangerous felony. She is currently held without bond. Attempts by Fox News Digital to contact Scott’s attorney have not yet been successful.
