Morgan Wallen stands out as a leading figure in country music today, delivering hits like “865,” “Sand in my Boots,” and “Whisky Glasses.” Born on May 13, 1993, in Sneedville, Tennessee, Wallen developed his musical talents early. His parents, Tommy and Lesli Wallen, encouraged his involvement in music, leading him to sing in church and learn piano and violin as a child.
Before earning fame with sold-out shows, Wallen caught the public’s eye on “The Voice” in 2014. At 20, he made a lasting impression with his rendition of Howie Day’s “Collide,” showcasing a distinctive, raspy voice. Although Wallen did not win the competition, his performance paved the way for his music career’s growth.
In 2020, Wallen experienced major personal and public challenges. He faced criticism after a video emerged in February showing him using a racial slur. In contrast, he celebrated the birth of his son, Indigo Wilder, in Nashville, with ex-girlfriend KT Smith.
Wallen’s career hit a high point with the release of “Dangerous: The Double Album” in 2021. This album included tracks like “More Than My Hometown,” “Sand In My Boots,” and “865.” Remarkably, it stayed at the top of the Billboard chart for 10 weeks, a feat not seen since 1987. With three million copies sold, it emerged as the best-selling album of the year and earned awards like Album of the Year from the Academy of Country Music and Top Country Album at the Billboard Music Awards.
In 2022, Wallen embarked on a nationwide tour promoting “Dangerous.” The tour, lasting eight months, featured 46 performances across the United States. Alongside his performances, Wallen offers a range of merchandise emblazoned with lyrics from his most popular songs.
Further showcasing his versatility, Wallen collaborated with Lil Durk on the single “Broadway Girls” in 2022 and appeared on Ernest’s track “Flower Shops.” His contributions continue to expand his influence in the country music genre.
