Round 1: Highlights and Trades
The first round commenced smoothly as teams retained their selections until the 13th pick. The trading activity then increased significantly.
- No. 13: Forward Nate Ament, initially picked by Miami, had his rights sent to Milwaukee.
- No. 16: Guard Bennett Stirtz was chosen by Memphis but traded to Oklahoma City in exchange for the 17th pick and two second-round selections.
- No. 17: Guard Ebuka Okorie’s rights moved from Oklahoma City to Memphis in the trade involving Stirtz.
- No. 21: Forward Karim Lopez, announced to Detroit, was traded to Memphis along with three first-round selections for Okorie’s rights.
- No. 24: Guard Cameron Carr was picked by the New York Knicks and traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
- No. 25: Forward Sergio De Larrea was selected by the Lakers, with his rights sent to Dallas via the Knicks.

- No. 37: Guard Ryan Conwell was picked by Oklahoma City but quickly traded to Miami.
- No. 38: Guard Braden Smith was selected by Chicago and his rights sent to Indiana.
- No. 41: Guard Otega Oweh’s rights were swapped from Miami to Oklahoma City for Conwell’s rights.
- No. 46: Forward Felix Okpara was selected by Orlando and sent to Washington.
