In a remarkable turnaround, the Oregon Ducks delivered an overwhelming 84-0 victory against Portland State after a surprising loss to Oklahoma State. Quarterback Dante Moore showcased his skills by completing 19 of 23 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception. Backup quarterback Dylan Raiola also excelled, completing all 11 of his passes for 124 yards and adding three touchdowns, contributing to the Ducks’ formidable 453-yard offensive display.
However, the celebration in Eugene is tempered by unfortunate news. Oregon’s head coach Dan Lanning announced that junior wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan suffered a broken foot. The injury occurred during pregame warmups before the Portland State game. McClellan was seen with a walking boot on his right foot and did not participate in the game. His absence will be indefinite, affecting the Ducks’ options on the field.

McClellan, a highly regarded recruit from St. Louis, Missouri, joined Oregon in December 2023, choosing them over more than 40 other top programs. Initially seeing limited action as a freshman in 2024, he emerged as a key player for Moore last season, ranking third in receptions and receiving yards on the team. With veteran teammates Malik Benson and Kenyon Sadiq now in the NFL, McClellan was poised for a significant role this year. In the current season, before his injury, he had seven catches for 170 yards and a touchdown, averaging 24.3 yards per catch.
The outlook is challenging for the Ducks as they prepare to face Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This upcoming Big Ten clash will feature two ranked teams battling for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Moore must now aim to secure a win without the services of one of his trusted receivers.
