The Los Angeles Rams are making a significant push before transitioning to a new phase. In the NFL Draft, the Rams picked Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th overall selection. Soon after, they extended MVP Matthew Stafford’s contract for another year and surprised many by acquiring Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett.
This move sparked rumors about a potential return by Aaron Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Former Rams player Andrew Whitworth recently shared his thoughts in an interview. When asked if he and Donald were a ‘package deal,’ Whitworth denied it, stating he’d be on the field if he were younger. However, he has been in touch with Donald, hoping the star player returns.
“I’ve stayed on AD. I shoot him a little text every now and then trying to get a feel. I would love to see it. It’d be super exciting,” Whitworth said. “But if he’s interested in doing it, I hope he does it. I would love to see it. That’s for sure.”
Should Donald return, he’d be teaming up with Garrett, creating an exciting defensive lineup for the Rams.
Whitworth expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, noting Garrett’s recent training at his gym. He described the Rams’ environment as unique, highlighting the excitement Garrett is likely to feel playing in such a setting. According to Whitworth, this will invigorate Garrett, who will become a crucial part of the team’s push for success.
Beyond football, Whitworth is also set to participate in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. He eagerly anticipates the event, where athletes and celebrities face the challenge of performing in front of a crowd.
“It’s hilarious. You got all these athletes, celebrities, everything else that have been on TV sets in front of thousands of people, everything else, but we joke every year… the nervous energy, kind of the little shakes you get in front of all those people,” Whitworth said about the tournament.
Whitworth reflected on how the tournament brings back feelings of competitive excitement, highlighting its growing popularity among fans.
