The Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens seemed destined for overtime in Rio de Janeiro after Brandon Aubrey’s game-tying kick late in the fourth quarter. But Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense had different plans.
With merely seven seconds left in the game, Jackson delivered a 27-yard pass to wide receiver Zay Flowers, quickly calling a timeout with just one second remaining. This set the stage for Tyler Loop to successfully make a 56-yard field goal, clinching a surprising 34-31 win for the Ravens.
NFL analyst Rex Ryan was critical of the Cowboys’ defensive performance. He commented, “I can’t let Dallas off the hook like this. They’re still the worst two-minute defense in the National Football League, by far. They don’t know how to win a game. They stink.”
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged responsibility for the team’s loss, aiming to deflect pressure from the defense. Prescott expressed his frustration, saying, “Frustrated. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period.”
The Cowboys, with a current record of 1-2, are set to face the Houston Texans in Week 4.
