An example of its potential effects includes species such as the Florida manatees. These creatures were observed last year in Three Sisters Springs, located in Crystal River, Florida. However, the policy amendment means that even if the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service were to announce that pygmy rabbits or Florida manatees face extinction threats, certain activities might still be permissible. Under the new policy implemented during the Trump administration, actions like killing, trapping, or harassing these species might continue unabated despite their threatened status.
