Richmond, California: Testing Ground for Democratic Socialist Policies

Richmond, California, has been at the forefront of a critical debate regarding the viability of democratic socialist policies in the United States. The city’s politics have largely been influenced by the Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA), a strong progressive coalition whose members and allies promote policies linked to the democratic socialist movement.

Supporters view Richmond as a beacon of hope, demonstrating how ordinary citizens can confront corporate influence and establish a more community-centric government. Richmond is not an experiment.
