Scottie Scheffler has recently claimed the top spot on the PGA Tour’s career money list, accumulating over $130 million in earnings. At 30 years old, Scheffler has surpassed Tiger Woods’ career earnings by $10 million, indicating substantial financial success. However, as his caddie Ted Scott highlights, Scheffler’s motivations extend beyond financial gain.
Scheffler achieved the No. 1 player ranking in March 2022, coinciding with LIV Golf’s attempts to attract PGA Tour players. This was three months before the inaugural event of the then Saudi-backed circuit. Ted Scott joined Scheffler as his caddie in November 2021. During their early partnership, Scott was still understanding Scheffler’s preferences and goals.
Scott recalled an insightful conversation in the early days of their collaboration. Scheffler, ranked 19th in the world then, used a plain white golf bag without sponsor logos. Curious, Scott asked him about the absence of sponsors. Scheffler responded, saying he preferred playing with equipment of his choice. This reflected Scheffler’s priorities, which focused more on the quality of his play than financial incentives.
Scott further shared that during the height of the LIV Golf discussions, Scheffler, then the world’s top-ranked player, was unfazed by potential financial offers. “They can offer me a billion dollars,” Scheffler said. “I’m going to play where the best players are because I just want to beat people.” This conversation shaped Scott’s understanding of Scheffler’s competitive drive.
Their partnership has flourished. Even though Scott had previously contributed to Bubba Watson’s Masters wins as a caddie, his collaboration with Scheffler has been particularly successful. Scott has been by Scheffler’s side for all 22 of his PGA Tour victories, including four major championships since February 2022.
In 2026, Scheffler earned nearly $31 million on the PGA Tour. Caddies typically receive around 10% of a player’s earnings, suggesting Scott likely earned over $3 million. Scottie’s unique approach and dedication to the sport emphasize his commitment to excellence, which has been evident on the course.
