London – Serena Williams returned to professional tennis with a victory at Queen’s Club after nearly four years away. At 44, Williams showcased her power by hitting service winners up to 120 mph. She partnered with 19-year-old Canadian, Victoria Mboko, to claim victory in their opening doubles match in the grass-court tournament.
Williams and Mboko defeated the third-seeded duo of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe with scores of 7-6 (2), 6-2. This marked Williams’ first professional match since the 2022 U.S. Open. She secured the win with two aces and a service winner.
Williams announced her doubles return last week. She has yet to make a decision on a possible singles comeback.
