The alleged suspect in a shooting within a downtown Minneapolis apartment was reportedly being evicted due to threatening behavior with a firearm toward other residents. The incident, occurring on Wednesday afternoon, resulted in three fatalities, including the suspect, and left five individuals wounded. Among the injured were three Minneapolis police officers.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the shooter. However, local news station KTSP reported that witnesses have identified the individual as Carlton Johnson II. Fox 9 also recognized Johnson as the suspect, referencing unnamed sources.
Records reviewed by KTSP revealed that Johnson was undergoing eviction from a unit on the ninth floor of the apartment building. A court hearing concerning the eviction was scheduled for September 11. The Loring Tower’s management filed a complaint indicating that Johnson’s lease was supposed to be terminated in June following allegations of assaulting another resident, displaying a firearm, and issuing threats to kill, as described in the report.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
