The anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has led to a surge in betting activity, even though there is no official confirmation that the event is happening soon. Fans, especially Swift’s, are placing substantial bets in prediction markets, a platform typically used for sports and political wagers.
Jonathan Cohen, a gambling policy expert at the American Institute for Boys and Men, remarked on the phenomenon, saying, “Prediction markets are filling this void in our society of turning every single thing into a gambling contract. People want to gamble on celebrities getting married.”
Kalshi, a prediction market platform, indicates that New York is the favored location for Swift and Kelce’s wedding. CBS News confirmed with New York City Hall that an application was submitted for an event near Madison Square Garden on July 3. Observations of trucks with “Garden Party” equipment near MSG have intensified speculation about a possible celebration.
The anticipated union has generated over $4.5 million in bets, according to Kalshi. Notably, Jason Kelce, brother of Travis, is the leading choice for groomsman at 94%. Other groomsman contenders include Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, and Kelce’s colleague, Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback. On the bridesmaid side, Swift’s longtime friend, Abigail Anderson Berard, leads at 85%.
Kalshi’s entertainment market trading has reached $600 million this year, doubling from 2025. It also reports a significant increase in female traders. Cohen suggests this trend may shift the male-dominated betting space, noting that events like Swift’s wedding, which attract significant female interest, could contribute to this change.
