During a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, President Donald Trump mentioned that he expects to attend an NBA Finals game next week. The New York Knicks have reached the Finals for the first time in nearly three decades.
The 2012 NBA season provided memorable moments with Jeremy Lin sparking new optimism among New York Knicks fans. Though Lin, alongside Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire, did not secure a championship, that period marked a significant comeback for the team, which had not been in the spotlight since 1999. This year’s Knicks team is mirroring that feat.
Karl-Anthony Towns, Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and their teammates have led the Knicks to their first NBA Finals appearance since the 1998-99 season. Their ambition is to win the team’s first title since 1973.
Karl-Anthony Towns shared that Jeremy Lin played a crucial role in his Knicks fandom. “He really made me a Knicks fan and had me at Modell’s,” he told the New York Post. “It was incredible searching for his jersey. My love for Jeremy Lin is immense, and he’s one of my all-time favorite players.”
Towns reflected on how his passion for the Knicks was nurtured by his parents, despite the presence of the Brooklyn Nets. His journey has now brought him to a pivotal moment, with the Knicks just four potential victories away from a storied championship run.
