Trump’s New Communication Hire: Beni Rae Harmony
A new addition to Donald Trump’s communications team has been announced as the search for a new White House press secretary continues. Beni Rae Harmony, a 24-year-old former journalist, has been hired to serve as an assistant press secretary. This follows the resignation of Karoline Leavitt in August. The appointment of Harmony has ignited discussion as details about her emerged.
Harmony recently attracted attention when a 2021 holiday photo resurfaced online. In the image, she wears a T-shirt with an explicit message about Joe Biden while holding a rifle. Over the weekend, Harmony confirmed her new role, posting on X: “I’m looking forward to this next chapter. Serving the American people and continuing to fight for the American Dream. America First.”
Who Is Beni Rae Harmony?
On Friday, Harmony announced her new role in Trump’s press team. She had previously worked as a senior correspondent for Real America’s Voice, a media outlet linked to Steve Bannon. According to her LinkedIn profile, her career includes roles as a press aide for Turning Point USA’s Jack Posobiec and deputy press secretary for Republican Congressmen Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz.
Prior to joining the White House, Harmony reported on several presidential trips for Real America’s Voice. She was recently seen with the White House press corps during Trump’s visit to Ireland. On this trip, Trump was photographed holding a piece of paper with Harmony’s name visible, fueling speculation about her new role.
Harmony has over 77,000 Instagram followers where she shares content about her work with the president. Her hiring occurs amidst tensions between Trump and the press. Recently, Trump’s decision to ban several major news outlets from the White House was blocked by a federal judge. Relations with female journalists remain tense, marked by notable disputes during Trump’s second term.
Why a 2021 Photo of Harmony Is Going Viral
After Harmony’s appointment was announced, social media users revisited some of her past posts and photographs. The most notable is a photo from a Christmas holiday in 2021. Harmony stands with an older relative, wearing a T-shirt with a strong anti-Biden message. The image originally appeared on Instagram, shared by former Republican House candidate Jarome Bell with a caption praising Harmony.
Harmony acknowledged the photo’s authenticity, later posting another picture in the same T-shirt. Responding to a question on X about the picture, she clarified the relative’s identity as her uncle.
In 2025, Harmony was recognized within right-wing communities for an emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk. She called Kirk a mentor and the person who inspired her professional journey. While an anchor at WICS NewsChannel 20 in Springfield, Illinois, she asserted she was suspended for the tribute. However, the station’s news director, Heather Nodine, refuted this, noting Harmony never worked as a journalist at the station.
Attempts for comment from Harmony and the White House through Newsweek have yet to receive a response.
