President Donald Trump indicated his possible support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming elections. In an interview with Israeli public broadcaster KAN News, Trump expressed his fondness for Netanyahu, referring to him by his nickname ‘Bibi’. Trump remarked, “I like Bibi very much. I would be most likely to endorse him,” according to the Jerusalem Post. Nonetheless, he highlighted the importance of evaluating all candidates before making a decision.
Despite expressing a good relationship with Netanyahu, Trump noted the need for the Prime Minister to adopt a more rational approach and expressed his willingness to meet with him. Trump stated, “He’s doing a very good job; he’s got to be a little bit more rational.”

The statement came amid increasing criticism from Trump toward Netanyahu, especially concerning tensions involving Iran and Lebanon. Reports from Axios mentioned Trump’s frustration with Netanyahu over Israeli actions in Lebanon. This prompted Trump to allegedly call Netanyahu “f—ing crazy” during a phone conversation, which he later confirmed on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, though reaffirming his good working relationship with Netanyahu.
Recent tensions have escalated following an Israeli strike in Beirut that risked impacting the U.S.-Iran deal. Trump expressed his anger over the strike, attributing “no f—ing judgment” to Netanyahu but maintained optimism about the continuation of the Iran agreement. Trump referred to these tensions as a “little dispute” related to Lebanon and suggested a more tempered approach to handling conflicts.
“I say you can do a little softer touch, maybe you don’t need to bring down a building every time a Hezbollah member walks into it,” Trump commented.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu has underscored his close relationship with Trump in public speeches, describing him as “our great friend” and “my personal friend”, emphasizing their frequent communications and decisions made jointly.
Vice President JD Vance also addressed concerns about the Iran nuclear deal in an interview with The New York Times. He stated that the U.S. remains firm on maintaining sanctions if Tehran continues to support terrorist organizations like Hezbollah. Vance criticized misconceptions about the deal, assuring that benefits for Iran are contingent upon behavioral changes.
Both the White House and Israeli embassy were reached for comments by Fox News Digital.
