The U.S. Navy has confirmed an updated count of U.S. troops wounded in the Iran conflict, increasing the previously reported number. The count now includes 37 additional service members injured, as stated by the Pentagon earlier this week. Originally reported by the Washington Post on Friday, the update appeared without a formal announcement or an official explanation for the amendment.
The revised figures show 29 Navy sailors and eight Marines have been added as injured in the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS). This system is responsible for maintaining data on U.S. military personnel wounded or killed in action.
“Due to standard verification protocols, updates to the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) have registered a recent statistical increase in Navy casualties,” a Navy spokesperson told Newsweek.
The Navy indicated that all 29 sailors had returned to active duty. However, the identities of these personnel will remain confidential and are not disclosed to the public.
This information marks a significant update in the ongoing coverage of the conflict, highlighting the evolving situation and its impact on military personnel.
