Vice President JD Vance is stirring discussion regarding the 2028 presidential race, hinting at support from President Donald Trump for his future political ambitions. Vance plans to make decisions with his wife post-midterms, adding to speculation about the successor of the America First movement as Trump’s second term wraps up.
In his book “Communion,” Vance revisited a controversial remark made during his 2021 Senate campaign, labeling it “one of the dumbest” he had ever made, reported by NBC News. Vance had criticized Democrats, corporate oligarchs, and certain leaders as “childless cat ladies” without stakes in America’s future.
During a 2021 “Tucker Carlson Tonight” appearance, Vance targeted Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, claiming the Democratic future was controlled by individuals without children. He questioned the logic in entrusting the country to them. Notably, Harris has two stepchildren.
On “Hannity,” Vance shared how he prioritizes “sacred time” with his family daily. The visit took place on June 15, 2026, at Fox News Channel Studios. Meanwhile, Buttigieg announced in August 2021 that he and his husband had added two children to their family.
Vance’s self-admitted “boneheaded” comment had sparked twin controversies. He acknowledged it was intended to provoke but admits it distracted from discussing societal hostility towards having children. Vance expressed regret for failing to show charity towards those who, for various reasons, don’t have children.
His wife Usha shared how Charlie Kirk’s passing influenced their decision to have a fourth child. President Trump and Vice President Vance honored lives lost at a Memorial Day observance in 2026. Vance, a Catholic, regrets not respecting the dignity of all life in his earlier statement.
