In Chester, Maryland, an incident at a Taco Bell led to the arrest of Ashley Andrews, 30, after she reportedly threatened employees with a handgun over a delayed food order. The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office detailed the event that took place on June 18.
Witnesses at the scene described how Andrews became frustrated with the wait time and asked employees to meet her outside before allegedly showcasing a firearm and making threats. When deputies arrived, they detained Andrews and another individual involved in the verbal altercation. Police recovered a loaded handgun from Andrews.
Video footage, both from surveillance and an employee’s recording, corroborated the workers’ accounts of the dispute. Authorities reported that Andrews was seen lifting her shirt to reveal the handgun and placing her hand on its grip during the conflict.
The Taco Bell is located in the Kent Town Market shopping area on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Pending legal processes, Andrews faced charges of second-degree assault, having a handgun on her person, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment. She was also banned from returning to the Taco Bell.
Initially held on a $5,000 bond, Andrews was able to post bail the next day. She is represented by a public defender and has invoked her right to a speedy trial, with a court appearance scheduled for July.
