WWE star Rhea Ripley recently announced that she underwent surgery on her right knee. Ripley is the current WWE women’s champion and a prominent figure in the SmackDown roster.
“Life update,” she shared on Instagram. “After nearly 14 years in wrestling and a lifetime in sports… it has caught up to me. Surgery was never my first choice, but it became necessary.”
She expressed hope that this would be her first and last surgery, adding, “I’ve survived. Now it’s time to thrive again so I can return to what I love. See you all down the road.”
Ripley has not appeared on “Friday Night SmackDown” since June 5. Although reports suggested an injury, details were scarce on its nature and duration.
Meanwhile, WWE held an interim women’s championship match due to her absence. Chelsea Green triumphed in a ladder match against Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, and Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam. This victory marked Green’s first reign atop the women’s division.
Wrestling enthusiasts anticipate a future showdown where a healthy Ripley could unify the title against Green. Such a match promises to be eagerly awaited by fans of professional wrestling.
