Artists on the Bluff: A Celebration of Local Talent
This year’s Artists on the Bluff Summer Arts Festival highlighted Lake Bluff’s community spirit. The event, held over the weekend on the Village Green, maintained its 26-year tradition of promoting local artists’ visions.
Small children, including Remy Dobbins and Olivia Evans, embraced creativity by designing unique Father’s Day cards. The festival showcased 29 seasoned artists from within a 100-mile radius, many residing in Lake Bluff.
Director Alison Tompkins emphasized the festival’s role in connecting artists with the community. She noted the diversity of artwork on display, such as watercolor, acrylic, oil, sculpture, photography, pottery, mixed media, and jewelry.
Christiane Bouret from Skokie praised the festival’s authentic atmosphere. She appreciated how artists could focus on their creative vision instead of commercial sales. Phil Schorn, a pencil artist, described the festival as a hidden gem, perfectly sized for showcasing talent.
Matt and Katie Frekko from Lake Forest view the festival as a communal event. Matt valued its intimate setup and diverse contemporary art selection. Annette Dezelen, a regular attendee, cherishes the unique treasures found each year.
