The U.S. currently leads the discussions in the Middle East according to Vice President JD Vance. He shared in a recent interview that the Trump administration has achieved its main objective concerning Iran, regardless of how the ongoing talks in Doha turn out.
“We have all the cards in the negotiation,” Vance stated on The Ingraham Angle. He emphasized that the core mission was to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. “Even if the negotiations are not successful, we’ve accomplished that objective,” he added.
Vice President Vance, during a press briefing in Kiryat Gat, Israel, expressed confidence in the current U.S. strategy, noting, “It’s a win-win outcome for the American people.” Successful talks would lead to Iran’s permanent shift away from nuclear aspirations and reduced support for proxies that destabilize the region. This development could see Iran re-enter the global economy positively.
Should Iran not cooperate, Vance assured that the U.S. retains its advantage. “Their nuclear program and conventional military are destroyed, leaving the U.S. in a dominant position,” he explained.
These comments come as U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrive in Qatar to continue discussions with mediators. Reports indicate no direct meetings between Washington and Tehran are currently scheduled.
Majed Al-Ansari, a Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman, confirmed there are no plans for direct discussions between the U.S. and Iran soon. However, earlier remarks from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested that Iran had shown interest in talks.
