Jonathan Andic, the son of the Mango clothing brand’s founder, has publicly denied accusations of involvement in his father’s death. Arrested recently in Spain as part of a murder investigation, Andic termed the allegations serious, unjust, and unfounded. He expressed these sentiments in an open letter to the company’s staff, confirming his resignation as vice president of the fashion giant’s board to prioritize his legal defense.
Andic, aged 45, stated that the public narrative has significantly deviated from reality, creating a biased perception of his guilt. This letter marked his first public response to the ongoing case.
“I make this decision sadly, but convinced that it is what’s best for the company and for me. … I need to concentrate all my energy on demonstrating my innocence,” Andic said.
In connection to the case, Jonathan Andic was seen leaving the Juzgado de Instruccion 5 in Martorell after posting bail. He paid a sum of one million euros, equating to about $1.2 million.
The incident in question occurred while Andic was hiking with his 71-year-old father, Isak Andic, in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. During this hike on December 14, 2024, Isak Andic tragically fell to his death. Initially considered an accident, the death’s circumstances were re-evaluated by prosecutors in October 2025, leading them to concentrate on Jonathan Andic.
Following his father’s passing, Jonathan Andic took on a prominent role in the company. He was appointed as the executive vice president of Mango’s holding company in January 2025, just around six weeks after his father’s death, according to Reuters.
