Caitlin Clark is making a significant impact in her third WNBA season with the Indiana Fever. Last year, her season was cut short due to a groin injury, limiting her to 13 games. This season, while she is no longer troubled by that injury, she is dealing with a back issue. This condition has required some in-game adjustments and even led to her missing the fourth game of the season against the Portland Fire, which surprised many.
Despite these challenges, both Clark and head coach Stephanie White have minimized the perceived severity. They do not consider it a major concern. Clark elaborated on her physical and mental journey as she learns to manage her injuries. She explained, “I don’t think it necessarily started at a certain point. It’s something I’ve understood over the last year. Before, it was all about pushing through—go play, go play, go play. Now, I might be a bit too hyperaware of certain things, but I’m learning to work through it and find the balance. It’s not a major concern.”
Clark’s performance on the court has not suffered. She is having the best start of her WNBA career, showcasing her skills with impressive statistics. The former Iowa star is averaging 23.8 points, 9.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. Her shooting efficiency includes 43.2% from the field, 34.8% from the three-point range, and an outstanding 96.4% from the free-throw line.
