The Kansas City Chiefs are facing challenges with wide receiver injuries this season. Tyquan Thornton, their second-leading receiver, sustained a significant ankle injury against the Las Vegas Raiders nearly two weeks ago. This injury is likely to keep him off the field for the remainder of the season.
Rashee Rice also has injuries affecting his hamstring and knee, which may require time off. Additionally, Jeff Caldwell and Jimmy Holiday have been on injured reserve status since late August. Currently, Xavier Worthy, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, and Nikko Remigio are the only healthy wide receivers available for the Kansas City roster. However, Allen and Remigio have yet to make any catches this season.
Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report suggests the Chiefs should seek to improve this position. He recently highlighted disgruntled Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy as a potential option. Knox proposes the Chiefs could trade a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick to acquire Jeudy.
“According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it’s ‘pretty well known around the league’ that Jeudy is available,” Knox wrote.
Schultz indicates that the Browns would prefer a third- or fourth-round pick in exchange for Jeudy, but this might be hard to achieve. Jeudy, aged 27, faced difficulties last season and has become less central in the Browns’ lineup, as new players like Concepcion, Boston, and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. have taken priority.
Despite this, Jeudy remains a skilled receiver. He was a Pro Bowl selection two years ago after achieving a 1,229-yard season. His abilities are intact, and with a 2026 base salary of $1.5 million, he presents an attractive choice for teams mindful of their budget.
Presently, Jeudy has caught eight passes for 81 yards in five games, a modest contribution as Boston and Concepcion have taken the spotlight. Nonetheless, two years ago, Jeudy recorded an impressive 90 receptions, 1,229 yards, and four touchdowns.
In Kansas City, Jeudy would likely receive more than the three targets per game he currently averages in Cleveland. His addition would provide quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a reliable, big-play receiver, a role left vacant since the trade of Tyreek Hill.
