Jay-Z is confirmed to perform during the Super Bowl LXI halftime show. Apple Music announced this during the halftime of Monday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Super Bowl LXI will take place on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Apple Music shared the news on social media, suggesting that the speculation about Jay-Z’s involvement had been accurate.
Reports had previously circulated suggesting Jay-Z was a contender for this high-profile performance. According to Puck News, he was chosen for the event over other notable artists like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. TMZ mentioned that Harry Styles was also considered among the leading candidates.
Irish rock band U2 is also set to perform during an NFL halftime show, scheduled for Thanksgiving Eve.
Jay-Z, along with his entertainment company Roc Nation, has played a significant role in producing and selecting acts for the Super Bowl halftime show since they began their partnership in 2019. The 56-year-old artist is familiar with SoFi Stadium, having concluded his Jay-Z 30 Tour with performances there on October 23 and 24.
This tour paid tribute to the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.” Puck noted that Jay-Z’s July performances at Yankee Stadium were highly successful, generating over $42 million in revenue.
Jay-Z has an impressive record in the music industry, with 25 Grammy Awards to his name. He also holds the distinction of being the first rapper to enter the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His most recent album, “4:44,” was released in 2017.
Though Jay-Z has never performed at a Super Bowl, his wife, Beyoncé, has taken the stage twice. She headlined the halftime show in New Orleans in 2013 and joined Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016 in Santa Clara, California.
