The White House responded to Ariana Grande on Thursday following her criticism of the Trump administration’s use of her song in a social video about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson stated, “We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens.”
The 32-year-old singer and actress addressed the situation earlier this week, condemning the use of her song “Bye” in a TikTok video. She commented, “please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. f– ice.”
The White House video, which has since had the sound removed as of Thursday, originally included a caption that said, “Bye-bye. President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”
Last September, Grande took to Instagram to claim, “immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed.” Her public stances have included participation in the Women’s March after President Trump’s first term began in 2017 and vocal opposition to his transgender bathroom policy on social media.
Additionally, Grande shared a protest sign last year questioning which crimes result in deportation and which lead to election as president. This comment referenced Trump’s conviction on 34 felonies related to business records in the Stormy Daniels case.
Grande has previously expressed her support for Kamala Harris and performed at the White House for former President Barack Obama in 2014. Fox News Digital has sought comments from Grande’s representatives regarding her recent statements.
