The Arkansas Razorbacks are gearing up for a challenging non-conference schedule as they kick off the college basketball season. Head coach John Calipari expressed concern over the demanding lineup, stating it might have been a mistake during a media interaction at the SEC Basketball Tipoff event in Birmingham, Alabama. He humorously questioned his scheduling decisions, calling the line-up “ridiculous.”
Calipari elaborated on the challenges, mentioning games against top teams. The Razorbacks will face Virginia soon after opening against Arkansas Pine-Bluff on November 3. Other tests include neutral floor matches against Indiana and Michigan State, as well as a true road game against North Carolina in Chapel Hill on December 1.
Ranked third in the preseason SEC poll behind Florida and Texas, Arkansas aims to meet high expectations. Calipari’s former team, Kentucky, is predicted to finish seventh. Entering his third year at the helm, Calipari has previously led the Razorbacks to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons.
The team must adjust to the absence of Darius Acuff Jr., their standout from last season, now drafted seventh by the Sacramento Kings in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Razorbacks are determined to fill this gap as they face a competitive season ahead.
