Authorities have identified a suspect connected to a shooting that injured 12 people near Toledo’s Old West End Festival. They are also searching for a second suspected gunman.
The Toledo Police Department is conducting a manhunt for Ka Nye Taylor. He faces 11 counts of felonious assault related to the June 6 incident. The shooting occurred near the Old West End Festival, an annual event known for live music, food vendors, and home tours.
Police described Taylor as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A photo of a second suspected gunman, who has not been identified publicly, has also been released.
Authorities responded to the shooting near Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue around 5:37 p.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived, multiple victims were found with gunshot wounds. The victims, aged 14 to 61, are reported to be in stable condition, with most in their early 20s.
Investigators seek information on Taylor’s whereabouts and the second suspect’s identity. Crime Stoppers can be contacted at 419-255-1111. A combined reward of up to $15,000 is offered for information leading to arrests. Crime Stoppers is providing $10,000, and the U.S. Marshals Service is offering up to $5,000.
Toledo Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan confirmed that at least two gunmen were involved. “They were probably shooting at each other,” Heffernan stated in a news conference. The gunfire followed a foot chase and assault between two rival groups during the festival.
The incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the groups. Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates promised swift and strong justice. She expressed personal outrage, stating, “This is my home. These are my friends and neighbors. It is not OK.”
The Toledo Police Department continues its investigation with the community’s assistance.
