Bryson DeChambeau’s Struggles: A Stark Contrast to Past Success
This weekend marks two years since Bryson DeChambeau secured his second U.S. Open major championship. However, current circumstances might make it feel like ages ago.
DeChambeau’s recent performances have been a stark contrast to his past victories. This season, he missed the U.S. Open cut after completing the rounds at 5-over. This marks his third missed cut at a major tournament this year.
Formerly YouTube’s most renowned golfer, Bryson DeChambeau faced disappointment at the Masters, getting a triple bogey on the 18th hole, leading to yet another missed cut.

A total of three majors, yet Bryson hasn’t played on a weekend this year. A continuous decline seems evident. With each month bringing new lows, his performance feels indefensible at this point.
Despite previous admiration, sentiments have shifted. A decade ago, DeChambeau was often criticized for his demeanor and style. Although unique, he struggled to secure wins.
Change came a few years back. DeChambeau grew humble and more approachable, translating to greater success. He won the U.S. Open in 2024 and 2020, overcoming a tough contest against Rory McIlroy. His achievements made him a favorite in major tournaments.

During this period, he consistently performed well, with top ten finishes in major tournaments throughout 2024 and 2025.
Yet, this year has been disappointing. LIV Golf appears to be losing its footing, with only six of the 13 LIV golfers making the cut at Shinnecock, including Bryson, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith.
DeChambeau seemed to have lost his way this season, hinting at shifting his focus to entertainment through his YouTube channel. He even expressed interest in doubling, potentially even tripling his channel’s growth by dubbing content in multiple languages.
“I’d love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more,” DeChambeau stated while preparing for last month’s LIV Golf tournament at Trump National. “I would love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube.”
He shared with Pat McAfee that he considers the entertainment aspect of golf, namely his YouTube pursuits, to be larger than the traditional game itself.
This mindset raises doubts regarding his capability to achieve major wins in the future.
DeChambeau’s trajectory hints at an impending unfortunate season, potentially culminating in four consecutive missed cuts.
After the poor displays at the majors, particularly at Shinnecock, many are wary of betting on his comeback.
