Adam Carolla, a well-known comedian, discussed significant changes in Los Angeles during a recent episode of the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast. Carolla remarked on a noticeable trend where residents, once reluctant to leave the city, are now willing to relocate almost anywhere.
“No one ever left LA,” Carolla explained. In the past, people only moved if a company’s headquarters relocated or if they were retiring to a place like Hawaii. Nowadays, he noted, people are leaving without specific destinations in mind. “Now, people leave LA, and you go, ‘Where are you going?’ And they go, ‘Anywhere,'” Carolla stated.

Carolla discussed with Sean Hannity how leaving Los Angeles used to be infrequent. “When you’re from LA, back in the day, if somebody said, ‘We’re moving to Tennessee…’ I didn’t know where Tennessee was,” Carolla recalled, expressing disbelief that someone would choose to move there.
He views this trend as indicative of larger issues in Los Angeles, suggesting that some individuals are moving out of necessity rather than choice. “That’s a bad sign,” Carolla mentioned, referring to the reasons for leaving the city, such as escaping local conditions, not just relocations or retirements.
Carolla has been outspoken about his criticisms of California’s Democratic leadership. He has highlighted concerns about issues like the state’s homelessness crisis, frequent wildfires, and what he perceives as a general decline. He has specifically mentioned leaders like Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in his critiques.
Carolla also revealed that he has considered leaving California, planning to move once his children finish high school.
