Federal Probe Sparks Tension at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Residence
Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, has remained unseen in public following a recent raid on her Washington, D.C. home. Days after the raid, Fox News Digital observed her daughters at the residence.
Isra Hirsi was seen arriving at the home under the cover of night, carrying a bag as she entered the front door. This is the same home that Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided a week earlier. Hirsi addressed Fox News Digital directly, asking, “What’s your problem?” after exiting her vehicle.
Two days later, Omar’s other daughter, accompanied by a woman who appeared to be her caretaker, was also spotted entering the house. Omar’s son has not been seen by Fox News Digital since the federal search, during which authorities reportedly seized the congresswoman’s phone and passport.
Amid these observations, U.S. Capitol Police, whose duty normally covers the Capitol building and grounds but extends to members of Congress, appeared on Omar’s street. Omar shares her three children with Ahmed Hirsi. They were ceremonially married in 2002 and legally wed in 2018. Before legally marrying Hirsi, Omar was married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi from 2009 to 2017.
The congresswoman’s husband, Tim Mynett, has occasionally left the home, primarily to walk the family dog, and has expressed confidence in his wife, dismissing concerns about the investigation. Mynett rebuffed rumors that Omar fled the country, remarking on the disturbance caused by the media presence.
Isra Hirsi, Omar’s eldest daughter, has attracted controversy. An activist and Barnard College graduate, Hirsi faced arrest and suspension in 2024 due to her involvement in an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University. She played a role in founding the U.S. Climate Strike in 2019, advocating for the Green New Deal and renewable energy.
Hirsi’s group also championed universal healthcare, student debt relief, and land rights for Native Americans, alongside criticism of capitalism on social media.
Meanwhile, Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, canceled a book event in Minnesota, citing a family emergency. According to Fox News Digital, Noor voluntarily engaged with federal investigators amid the ongoing probe.
HSI agents raided Omar’s home early last Monday morning. Sources indicated the operation was tied to an immigration fraud investigation, exploring whether Omar and her father provided false information on her citizenship documentation.
Border Czar Tom Homan noted that if the allegations are verified, Omar could face denaturalization. Numerous individuals, including Omar’s family, have been subpoenaed.
Omar has refrained from commenting directly to Fox News Digital but responded to the raid on social media. She criticized the investigation by Trump’s DHS as politically charged and proclaimed her innocence.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Vice President JD Vance maintained that the investigation is not influenced by politics. He emphasized adherence to law and facts, distinguishing the current administration from the previous one.
