Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner addressed recent allegations against him in a national media interview. He denied the claims in a New York Times report, which included accusations of violent behavior and disturbing fantasies.
In the interview on MS NOW’s “All In with Chris Hayes,” Platner firmly rejected the accusations. “There are some allegations in this piece that are simply not true,” he stated. Platner maintained that claims of physical altercations and knowledge about a controversial tattoo were politically motivated.
Platner candidly discussed his past struggles, acknowledging his issues with alcohol and the challenges he faced after returning from combat service. “That’s what that kind of life looks like,” he explained, stressing his openness about these personal matters throughout his campaign.
Host Chris Hayes questioned Platner about specific incidents, such as an alleged altercation involving an ex-girlfriend. Platner firmly denied these accusations.
After the allegations surfaced, a statement from Platner’s campaign criticized witness Lyndsey Fifield, describing her as a longstanding Republican operative. The controversies have included a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol and explicit messages sent to women while married. His wife, Amy Gertner, defended him, further discussing the messages reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Platner’s campaign continues to face scrutiny amidst multiple scandals as the candidate strongly refutes the accusations.
