An associate of Brian Hooker revealed that he had a $33,000 thermal camera on his boat on the night his wife went missing but did not use it for her search. The incident happened on April 4 after the couple left Hope Town in the Bahamas.
Brian Hooker reported to authorities that his wife, Lynette, fell off their dinghy due to rough waters during their journey back to their sailboat, which serves as their full-time retirement home. He managed to reach Marsh Harbour at about 4 a.m. the following day.
Friend Daniel Danforth noted that Hooker had a sophisticated surveillance system on their boat, known as a FLIR system. This equipment is capable of detecting heat signatures and could have been instrumental in locating Lynette.
Danforth shared his past interaction with Hooker, where the thermal system’s safety features were emphasized. During their meeting in New Orleans in 2023, Hooker demonstrated the system tracking movement based on heat detection, which provided added security.
Amid the search, Brian Hooker communicated with Danforth on April 6, stating that Lynette had attempted to swim back to their sailboat after falling overboard. Danforth later informed the Coast Guard about the camera system in May.
The Coast Guard later seized the Hookers’ boat, Soulmate, as part of an active criminal investigation. A warrant was filed to potentially recover data from the thermal camera to aid their inquiry into Lynette’s disappearance.
Brian Hooker returned to the U.S. to care for his ill mother after being detained for five days. Currently, he faces no charges. His attorney defended him, urging the public to offer understanding in his situation.
