Former Vice President Kamala Harris recently traveled to Wisconsin to support Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley. Her visit comes as his campaign faces challenges, according to his Republican opponent, Rep. Tom Tiffany.
Harris visited the battleground state on Monday, campaigning alongside Crowley in Milwaukee just days before the election. Speaking at Milwaukee’s Pfister Hotel, Harris acknowledged the emotional strain many have felt over the past months. “For the last year and a half, I know many of us have been going through a whole lot of emotion: anger, sadness, disappointment, destruction, depression, all kinds of emotions,” she stated. She expressed understanding of the fear and powerlessness many communities are experiencing.

Tiffany criticized the move to bring Harris to Wisconsin, suggesting it indicated Crowley’s struggle to engage Democratic voters. “This is clearly a move that says that they’re struggling to get their base to vote. David Crowley has not excited the base,” Tiffany commented to Fox News Digital.
Crowley, who defeated state Rep. Francesca Hong in the primary, is perceived by some as being chosen by Democratic leaders like Gov. Tony Evers to appeal to centrist voters. This situation parallels challenges Harris faced during her presidential campaign.

Tiffany accused Crowley of being a handpicked candidate by party leaders instead of being naturally selected through democratic processes. “They handpicked them rather than letting democracy work in their own party,” he remarked. He claimed this strategy hasn’t energized Democratic voters.
Tiffany has positioned himself as a common-sense candidate while criticizing Crowley, currently serving as Milwaukee County executive, for local economic conditions. “It’s not in his DNA to reduce costs for people in Wisconsin or to reduce taxes,” Tiffany argued. He accused Crowley of raising taxes annually during his tenure as county executive.
A spokesperson for Crowley’s campaign defended his record, emphasizing his work to make living affordable. “David Crowley is criss-crossing the state to discuss his plan to lower costs for working families,” the spokesperson stated. They attributed the rising costs to Tiffany and former President Donald Trump’s policies, while highlighting Crowley’s achievements in budget balancing and lowering property taxes as county executive.

The spokesperson criticized Tiffany for favoring billionaires with tax breaks, allegedly neglecting ordinary Wisconsinites.
