The New York Knicks showcased resilience in a thrilling 107-106 win against the San Antonio Spurs, taking a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals. Trailing by as much as 29 points, the Knicks orchestrated what many would call one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history.
Jalen Brunson’s missed three-pointer became the pivotal moment when OG Anunoby tipped it in, sending Madison Square Garden into a frenzy. The journey to that victory was intense and fraught with challenges.
The game’s dynamics shifted early as Karl-Anthony Towns received two quick fouls within the game’s first 62 seconds, frustrating Knicks fans. This allowed the Spurs to seize control with a 41-20 opening run. At halftime, the Spurs held a commanding 76-49 lead, largely due to their 54% three-point shooting.
Despite the odds, the Knicks demonstrated why you should never count them out. By the end of the third quarter, they had closed the gap to 15 points. Although the fourth quarter began with the Spurs extending their lead to 20, the Knicks surged with a 13-2 run, narrowing their deficit to nine with under seven minutes left.

With 5:15 remaining, the gap was down to seven. The relentless Knicks reduced the gap to four with 4:32 to play, and to just one with two minutes on the clock. With only 90 seconds left, they took the lead for the first time.
The Spurs managed to reclaim the lead with two free throws, leaving the Knicks 30.3 seconds to defy the odds once more. Jalen Brunson then made a crucial three-pointer, a testament to his clutch performance.
In the game’s closing seconds, San Antonio failed to execute off an inbound play, clinching a historic victory for the Knicks in front of the ecstatic home crowd.
“One of the greatest plays in Knicks history,” stated head coach Mike Brown, applauding Anunoby’s game-winning tip-in as a defining moment for the team.
The Knicks outperformed the Spurs 58-30 in the second half, cementing this game as a landmark in the NBA Finals.
