On June 1, 2026, Nvidia announced the launch of powerful new chips aimed at bringing advanced artificial intelligence functions to laptops and desktop computers. This marks a significant step as brands like Microsoft and Dell prepare to release new personal computer models with these capabilities later this year.
Although Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, California, has been highly successful with its high-end chips in data centers, the company is now working to extend its influence across AI systems and products. Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of Nvidia, revealed these plans during the annual Nvidia GTC event in Taipei.
In his keynote speech, Huang emphasized that Nvidia and Microsoft aim to “reinvent the personal computer” by introducing the RTX Spark superchip. This chip merges CPU and GPU functionalities and will be integral to new Windows laptops and desktop computers, which the company refers to as “AI personal computers.” These products are expected to make their debut in the fall.
Nvidia has already secured its position as the world’s most valuable company, surpassing Apple, Alphabet, and Microsoft. During the keynote in Taipei, Huang showcased laptop models equipped with RTX Spark GPUs, signifying the company’s commitment to transforming the computing landscape.
The new AI personal computers will enhance both creative and gaming experiences. According to Huang, these devices will feature AI agents that can interact with users, perform tasks such as reading files, conducting research, and more. Huang likened this development to the transformation of mobile phones into smartphones.
Microsoft echoed this sentiment, announcing that PCs using Nvidia’s RTX superchips would support advanced AI models and handle complex workloads. These systems will run AI agents locally, reflecting a growing demand for personal AI applications.
Lian Jye Su, chief analyst at Omdia, highlighted that this move offers more choices for consumers. Neil Shah, co-founder of Counterpoint Research, described Nvidia’s announcement as revolutionary for the PC industry, predicting that these computers will facilitate AI applications in households, creating “AI supercomputers.”
Nvidia’s CEO also introduced the Vera CPUs for data centers, which are now fully in production and are projected to become a major growth driver. Early adopters are expected to include companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI.
In addition, Huang revealed a humanoid robot reference design that could serve as a guide for future research, particularly within the higher education sector.
