Proposal Stunt on Empire State Building Spire
Two individuals, wearing masks, climbed to the top of the Empire State Building with a banner displaying the message: “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.” This occurred around noon on Wednesday, capturing the attention of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Emergency Services Unit.
After being reached by the emergency team, the pair took down the banner and descended from the antenna to a safer platform. One person then produced an engagement ring from a backpack and proposed. Following this, they were taken into custody and charges are expected. NYPD officials confirmed to Fox News Digital that no injuries occurred during the incident. The method by which these individuals managed to scale the building remains unknown.
A unique marriage proposal took place on the Empire State Building, causing a significant police response.
About 40 police officers stayed in front of the landmark, with some handling traffic direction around it. The entrance on Fifth Avenue, located between West 33rd and 34th streets, was closed off, leading to pedestrians gathering on nearby corners to observe what was happening.
The Empire State Building stands 1,454 feet, including its spire and antenna, ranking as the fourth-tallest building in New York City, sixth in the U.S., and 43rd in the world. The individuals used a banner stating, “when the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace,” during their action.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has not yet commented on this public demonstration. His office did not immediately provide a response to Fox News Digital’s inquiry.
