Over the weekend, guests at Six Flags Over Texas faced an unexpected adventure. The Titan roller coaster, known as one of the park’s tallest rides, came to an abrupt stop due to a power outage. Situated in Arlington, Texas, this ride halted mid-course on Saturday, causing the attendees to evacuate the structure.
Footage shared online captured the tense moments as riders carefully navigated down a steep staircase alongside the massive coaster. The Titan, which towers at approximately 245 feet and reaches speeds up to 85 mph, made for a daunting descent.
According to WFAA, a Dallas-area station, Six Flags identified the disruption as an internal technical issue impacting the park’s power. Despite the incident, the park resumed operations on Sunday. Online, the evacuation video stirred reactions, with many viewers expressing fear at the thought of descending from such a height.
Comments on social media included one person stating, “I could never get down from there, not at that height.” Another user remarked, “Would never ride a roller coaster again.” These comments highlight the dread some felt at the prospect of climbing down from the Titan.
Discussions also arose about roller coaster safety. While some questioned the reliability, others defended the rigorous regulations governing these rides. Beyond safety concerns, the park-wide outage prompted frustrations regarding extended wait times and ride stalls throughout the day. One comment noted, “Six Flags always has something happening.”
Since its debut in 2001, the Titan has been a hallmark of Six Flags Over Texas. Notably, this isn’t the first such incident. Earlier this year, a similar evacuation occurred at Six Flags New England in Massachusetts. In that case, riders were escorted safely off the Superman the Ride after it encountered technical difficulties.
Six Flags staff ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers, maintaining communication throughout the process. Fox News Digital reached out to Six Flags Over Texas for additional comments on the event. Andrea Margolis and Kelly McGreal from Fox News Digital contributed to this coverage.
